Cutting calculator for bars, profiles and tubes

Enter the stock length, saw kerf and pieces – the calculator instantly creates a cutting plan with as little waste as possible. The calculation runs right in your browser; your dimensions are neither sent nor stored.

How the calculator works

1. Bar and saw

Enter the length of your bars (e.g. 6000 mm) and the kerf of the saw blade. The kerf is lost with every cut and is included in the calculation.

2. Pieces

Length and quantity per row. Copy two columns from Excel and paste them into the table with Ctrl+V.

3. Cutting plan

You see how many bars you need, how the pieces are distributed over the bars and how much waste is left.

What is the theoretical minimum?

The theoretical minimum is the smallest possible number of bars: the sum of all pieces including saw cuts, divided by the bar length and rounded up. Fewer bars are impossible. If the cutting plan reaches the minimum, it is optimal. If it is above it, there is often a better arrangement – the MAX optimisation in Pipe-tunes 2.0 finds it by trying several methods and picking the best result.

The online calculator is meant for quick calculations with up to 12 lengths and 60 pieces. For larger jobs and daily work in the workshop there is the Windows program:

  • any number of pieces and lengths, MAX optimisation
  • offcut stock – offcuts from previous jobs are used first
  • graphical cutting plan to print, export to Excel
  • save jobs, works offline
  • perpetual licence from €149 excl. VAT – no subscription, no USB dongle
